At the time, the scenario based chance was at 7% and an updated plot shows it at 1%. Today's featured chart looks into the chances of Ames setting a new yearly precipitation record. The chart appends historical observations onto the 2026 year to date total precipitation and then computes the percentage of those scenarios that exceed the 2010 record. Remarkably, only one previous year provided the 16 inches yet needed to top 2010.
